girth, and sabino gene. We pride ourselves in our ability to match our mares with stallions that compliment them individually,  instead of covering all  mares  with  one  stallion.  There  are  only  a  few Premium  Drum  Foals  offered  every  year. We  also  post,  at the request of the owners, some other Drum Horses that are available and exceptional in quality. We do not use any breeding horses that are un-trained, un-handled, or require restraint of any kind to be worked with. Yes, we use halters and lead lines for our girls (for you wise guys) but we do not own horses that require stocks, twitches, hobbles, etc; Nor do we breed to them. That is part of temperament and intelligence. We also don't buy or sell broodmares that have just been left out to pasture never to be touched by a human hand. It may seem harsh, but in the years of sitting back quietly, we have seen many things. These things just make our cause in breeding only premium quality Drum Horses that much stronger.

Celtic Crossings Farm is not only the home of  some wonderful Drum Horses, but it is also home to Patricia and Aidan Pickreign. It is nestled in the rolling hills of Limington, Maine. We enjoy having the wilderness at our door step, with the convenience of a 45 minute ride to the most gorgeous eastern beaches. We built our farm from the ground up, literally. Side by side,  we cleared our land, built our barn, and seeded and fenced our pastures. Celtic Crossings Farm was formed on the foundation of raising horses with the temperament that anyone would be proud to own. Through buying and training young horses, we formed bonds of companionship and respect with our girls.

Our farm is designed for the comfort and happiness of our horses. They enjoy having acres of pasture to graze on, without getting lost in a hundred acre field. As of yet, we do not own a Drum stallion, but we plan to keep a worthy stud colt when he does come along. Over time, we have gathered the best and unique mares available in the U.S. and Canada. Celtic Crossings Farm specializes in breeding only Drum Horses, not Gypsies, Vanners, Tinkers, or other breeds. Our breeding program utilizes the bloodlines of registered Clydesdales, Gypsies, and Imported Drum horses. We prefer Gypsies for their abundant hair and feather and Clydesdales for their wonderful dispositions, smaller warmblood type

So what started this fever (or disease as the husbands tend to call it) ? I had heard of gypsies, but they were just too small for my taste, always being a draft lover at heart. I thought "if they could only 'super size' them...". Then I saw him....Galway Warrior. It stopped me in my tracks....they do exist; the perfect horse! Not even knowing at the time that he wasn't the first import. It was then, the glimmer of 'what could be' was imagined. I had been around horses for many years, always just doing 'my thing'. I had never been involved professionally or showing; just pleasure riding and driving. So how do you start a dream? Time, research and education. Many have never heard of us before now because we have spent years tracking stallions' offspring, learning about genetics, researching the Drum breed, and getting educated on horse breeding. We have been waiting for the time to be right to begin our own breeding program, and we are now ready for the gypsy and drum world to take notice.
